Buford Construction Company was established in Martin County in 1996 by Dennis and Ji Buford. Dennis’s father was a land developer in Michigan, so he grew up with an intimate understanding of the shovel and the bulldozer. He has been a licensed Florida Certified Building Contractor since 1986. Prior to that, he was a residential homebuilder in New Orleans, Louisiana.

For ten years Dennis was involved with the development of Pipers Landing and Harbour Ridge. During his affiliation, these two projects completed 825 single and multifamily homes, two clubhouses, four golf courses and three marina facilities. By the project closeouts Dennis was 100% responsible for the construction of homes as the licensed qualifier and Director of Construction. This experience provided Dennis the opportunity to work with, and learn the capabilities, of various quality, local sub-contractors in this area, allowing him to match the appropriate subcontractor to the type of project.

Since establishing the company Buford Construction has built homes from 1,800 square feet to as large as 23,000 square feet in Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. In addition we have completed a multitude of remodeling, commercial build-outs and commercial projects.

In October 2007, Buford Construction completed the first home in Martin County and the largest to date in the State of Florida to be “Certified Green” by the Florida Green Building Coalition. In July of 2008 we were recognized as having the first “Certified Green” remodeled home in Martin County. Our homes have won numerous Treasure Coast Builders Association Medallion and several National Home Builder Association awards (a 12 state Southeast Conference Aurora Awards competition).

Dennis served as President of the Treasure Coast Builders Association during 2004-2005 and both Dennis and Ji remain very active on several Association committees.
